Widow Strong: The Ferocity of Love

Ferocity of Love

Dear Friends,

β€œPut me like a seal over your heart,
Like a seal on your arm.
For love is as strong as death,
Jealousy is as severe as Sheol;
Its flashes are flashes of fire,
The very flame of the LORD.
7β€œMany waters cannot quench love,
Nor will rivers overflow it…”
Song of Solomon 8: 6-7
This is the verse that my late-husband, Jason, and I chose to mark our marriage, celebrated on December 17, 2000. We loved the thought of love being the very flame of the LORD.
When Jason went to heaven in 2007 it happened during Holy Week. This year, his angel-anniversary falls on today, April 2nd, Good Friday.

The pain and separation of death is the very reason Jesus came to earth in His β€œferocity of love.” His Passion for us compelled Him to die for our sins.
God is perfect. We are not. To bridge that gap, God came housed in human flesh to make the sacrifice for our imperfections so we can embrace healing and hope.
We honor His unspeakable sacrifice on Good Friday because it is the very lifeblood of our freedom. Jesus’ death for us is not the end of the story. It’s the beginning of God’s profound power and intimate love in our lives.
Resurrection is coming.

Resurrection Power loves all our broken places. Resurrection Power is the freedom to be whole again.
Shalom. Yeshua (Jesus) is the Prince of Shalom…Peace that as Total Wholeness.
My girls and I are off on an beautiful adventure to celebrate the hope we have and honor their father’s memory.
Each year of my widowhood, I look up the Hebraic meaning of the corresponding number. This meaning becomes my theme for that year’s God-Adventure. This is year founteen. Fourteen in Judaism symbolizes Grace: Unmerited Favor.
God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Messiah Yeshua (Jesus), so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. Ephesians 2: 8-10

We leave you with these compelling words on this sacred day…
β€œThe more you fall in love with Jesus’ genuine goodness, which is true goodness, the more you will absolutely detest the counterfeit of a false piety and a shallow morality. As He did. Jesus has a wild freedom born out of a profound holiness.
Which makes Him the most remarkable person I have ever known.
β€˜To do them justice, the people that crucified Jesus did not do so because He was a bore. Quite the contrary; He was too dynamic to be safe. It has been left for later generations to muffle up that shattering personality and surround Him with an atmosphere of tedium. β€œ – Dorothy Sayers’
From Beautiful Outlaw by John Eldredge
β€œHe is the playfulness of creation, scandal and utter goodness, the generosity of the ocean and the ferocity of a thunderstorm; he is cunning as a snake and gentle as a whisper; the gladness of sunshine and the humility of a thirty-mile walk by foot on a dirt road.”
-John Eldredge

If you are harvesting in your field and forget a sheaf there, do not go back to get it. It is to be left for the foreigner, the fatherless, and the widow, so that the LORD your God may bless you in all the work of your hands.Deuteronomy 24:19.

May God bless the work of your hands! Thank you!
