Widow Strong Saturday Edition Newsletter

Dear Friends,

I was finalizing our newsletter to release yesterday morning, Friday, September 17th, when a widowed mom called me with a request for help. Her story was so compelling that I stopped working on this newsletter and shifted my whole day, making calls and connections. And the most beautiful thing happened!

Our network of supporters/donors/friends jumped into action to help this widowed family, including our ministry partners at Rebuild & Restore who also have a passion to help widowed families through home repair & renovation. You won’t see this particular joint effort in an upcoming R&R episode because there where no cameras. They are helping this widowed family with us because the emergency need is now and it’s the right thing to do. That’s why we are proud to partner with Rebuild & Restore, a widows’ ministry-based program on Pure Flix!

That’s what your giving allows our team to do: dedicate time, effort, and resources to help widows and their children when they need it most. Thank you!

So, we are a day behind in today’s newsletter release, but I figured you’d understand. It’s such a joy to watch our body of believers spring into action to serve widows and their children according to James 1:27!

Fall is coming and, with your help, we have more exciting events planned for the rest of the year. Let’s jump in!

Gita’s Strong Story: From Loss to Leadership

Please take a minute to watch Gita’s Strong Story, because this is what your giving allows us to do at Widow Strong. Gita is a widowed mom and our mastermind Volunteer Events Coordinator for our Widow Strong activities here in Atlanta. Widow Strong Monthly outreach events bring hope, healing, and FUN to widows and their children on a consistent basis. This is an important part of their grief empowerment journey. We so appreciate Gita and her fabulous daughters who also serve at our gatherings!

Let’s Celebrate Fall!

The Widow Strong Family Fall Outing at Buford Corn Maze is taking place in Buford, GA on Saturday, October 9th. If widows mention the Widow Strong discount at the ticket counter they get $5 off the admission price of $16. The discounted price of $11 per person includes the corn maze, unlimited hayrides and the kids corner with interactive exhibits. They also have a pumpkin patch for photo opportunities. Pony rides are an additional $6 and optional. The corn maze opens at 10 am. At 2 pm we will take a Widow Strong group picture and hand out snack bags to all widows and kiddos that attend. If you are a widow, we don’t want finances to stop your family from attending, if you need scholarshiped tickets, please contact us at hello@widowstrong.com. Scholarshiped tickets are available on a first-come-first-served basis and as giving allows. The busiest time of year is right around the corner!

The fourth quarter of this year is two weeks away. This means we plan even more fun & fellowship events for our widowed families during what can be an especially sensitive time. We need your help to make these events a reality as they are not currently funded.

Our programs are generally FREE to widows and their children as our budget allows, but not free to create, advertise, organize, supply, maintain, or followup. Our outreach events invite widowed families to our 180 Your Life small group grief support studies. Widow Strong Initiatives are crowd funded by your generous giving. With financial challenges presented by COVID19, please consider a tax-deductible financial gift to Widow Strong to support our monthly programs for widows and their children. Thank you!

Join us on Zoom, Monday nights 8:00 p.m. – 9:00 pm Eastern Time. We would love to hear from our Widow Warriors! This is an informational opportunity and a chance for us to get to know you. We love this time together! Open to all widows. If you have been through our programs, please join us as well to share your experience.
